The Drone 2 HV is the organic evolution of the Mad Rock Drone. Still performing at exceptional levels, with greater comfort, the Drone 2 boasts technology bursting at the seams. Its downturned and asymmetrical profile helps deliver both precision and power as the problem goes past vertical, while the 3D molded heel keeps you locked in and able to hook, smear, and jam easily. The upper of the shoe features stretch materials to keep comfort high, and alongside the molded toe box and heel and with more support from the Arch Flex, keeps the shoe snug without being painful. The HV model accommodates slightly higher volume feet, while we also have the LV version available for those with smaller heels and less volume on foot. Mad Rock Technology Science Friction 3.0 Years after the launch of the first Mad Rock rubber formula, our new Science Friction 3.0 compound marks a special milestone for the Mad Rock brand. After exhaustive research and a new production process originating in the USA, our new formula has distinctively different characteristics than our previous batches. More durable than any of our previous formulas, our new Science Friction 3.0 also boasts higher friction. This optimal balance is incorporated into our new mix by increasing the tear strength and the memory of the compound. Due to its unique characteristics and unparalleled performance, our new Science Friction 3.0 formula is used on our shoe components like the 3D Hooking Heel, 3D Concave Sole as well as the soles in all of our rock shoes Patented Concave Sole Mad Rock’s innovative and patented Concave Sole allows climbers to utilize their feet as they would their hands. Concave Soles are optimal for grabbing at holds while climbing on overhangs, and also help to create a sharper edge and better support for standing on tiny holds and edges. Arch Flex Support By utilizing our 1.8mm thick R2 rand rubber formula, the Arch Flex system gives our high performance shoes an unbelievable comfortable, but glove-like fit. The elastic property in our R2 formula hugs and locks your foot into place without the pain associated with other high performance shoes. 3D Molded Heel Cup The best hooking heel ever created. Remember that leather upper shoes are likely to stretch over time (mostly in lateral width), while lined and synthetic upper shoes are not likely to stretch much at all. Climbing shoe sizing varies from brand to brand and, just to confuse the issue, often from model to model within a brand. Use numerical sizes purely as a guideline. As a rule of thumb, the level of shoe discomfort increases proportionately to an increase in climbing "level". This is primarily a result of molding the foot into as firm and precise an appendage as possible in an effort to eliminate "roll" (due mainly to weak feet or the shoe is too big and rolling around your foot) and increase sensitivity (sensual feedback) and pinpoint control.
